Kopying Kertész

On Reading is such a simple idea.

André Kertész walked round seeing pictures everywhere and captured people reading.

Regular visitors will know that it’s currently on at the Photographers’ Gallery and that I’m quite partial to it.

So here, fortuitously, is my homage to Kertész and his modest big idea.

Obviously it’s from Chesham, a town Kertész, managed to avoid visiting. And not a town previously noted for reading in the street. This is Baines Walk in the centre (it connects the High Street with the Town Hall) – the reader caught enjoying a rare moment of sun outside after a day of heavy downpours.

It’s not close to the standards of the master but I like it!

See it large here.
