Normal practice at Chalfont St Peter is to stand adjacent to the goal the Saints are attacking, locate Charlie Strutton and then stand back as wave after wave of attack go via the big lad and eventually Chalfont run out comfortable winners. Ten points clear and for a long time unbeaten they really are a cut above in this division, especially now that Aylesbury FC have swapped leagues with Aylesbury United.
It didn’t quite go according to plan for either Chalfont or for me this time. The attacks did come in waves but the efficient machine didn’t quite click and by the end Hanwell were looking just as dangerous as their hosts. In spite of all the attacking hustling and bustling though it finished goalless.
