Amersham’s cricket ground is just crying out to be the location for a scene in a Richard Curtis film. Shardeloes is a private estate through which riders trot, ramblers ramble and cries of “howzat” echo. It would look perfect with Hugh Grant falling over something. Today, Shardeloes played host to Thames Valley League cricket between Amersham and Cove and when I arrived the home side were just beginning their innings – and there was a little bit of edge out there as the openers set about hitting boundaries and surviving appeals until two quick wickets made it interesting (and time for Tea, so I left).
In the end it appears that Cove did the business, running out winners by 10 runs. – some photies are here.
