According to the papers that like to populate their stories about warm weather with images of pretty young things frolicking near fountains (The Guardian, this time) it’s been hotter in London than in a selection of randomly selected warm-sounding places. However, whilst the heat has brought back memories of what summers are meant to be like the actual appearance of England has been of a nation heading into deepest autumn. No wonder people have been acting a little crazy.
My photo shows the autumn leaves showing their colours in Regent’s Park. I took this at lunchtime on Friday. There was a lot of pale skin on display and many office workers seemed to take double advantage of such a mad day but taking a long lunch in the park and then adjourning for an early post-work park. It’s probably similar to what would happen if there was ever snow in Jamaica.
There are 64 days till Christmas.
